New Work In Progress and Resource of the Week

Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone's New Year has started off well. Unfortunately, mine hasn't started off to well, I just found out last Friday, that my mom has breast cancer. It just seems not to long ago, in December 2007,  I just lost my dad to lung cancer. Memories flooding back.
Anyways my newest work in progress is a dedication to my mom. I doubt if I will ever show her this piece, as she has never really cared for my type of artwork. She has always wanted me to be rich famous with works just like Thomas Kinkade.  Well there is only one Thomas Kinkade and I feel I am rich enough just having the opportunity to draw/paint what inspires me and time allows me.
This piece is all done in color pencil. Originally, inspired by a sketch prompt at Ellen Million's Sketchfest http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/

GREAT ART BOOK
I have been reading the book "How to Survive & Prosper as an Artist" by Caroll Michels
I highly recommend all artists get this book and read it. I have just only started to read it, but I have  been learning so much about art marketing and pricing one's artwork. A must have for your library. Deeply inspiring me and motivating me.

ART BY LYNN

I just had to share artist, Lynn Bonnette's blog. I just lover her style. She calls it the "Lynneristic Style". She creates small works of art of animals, in particular of mice and cats, in watercolor, color pencil and acrylics.  I love her latest piece "Blue Mouse Hat". I encourage you to check out her blog and works and see her enchanting and very inspiring works http://artbylynnbonnette.blogspot.com/

I hope you all have a great week!
God Bless!

New Work in Progresses, Updates & Resource of the Week

Hello Everyone!
So sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been so busy re-painting my kitchen, getting ready for Christmas and taking my daughter to appointments. I haven't had a lot of time lately to do any artwork. And I was so disappointed that I wasn't able to participate in the "Think Pink" contest this year, I just have not had any time to work on anything. Still no word on winner's list, but I did donate prizes to the stock image winners. So I will post here on the blog once the winners are announced. Here is a link to prizes and list of entries http://junkbyjen.deviantart.com/journal/THINK-PINK-VI-Contest-262439048

I have Christmas cards and ornaments available at my Zazzle Store  !5% off items right now USE CODE: HOLIDAYSSALE

The second work in progress is inspired by a prompt at Ellen Million's Sketchfest and from the movie "Santa Claus" starring Tim Allen. Which is one of my all time favorite Christmas movies.
